Kotobuki 190-813 Japanese Tenmoku Earthenware Rice Pot, Brown

Cook fluffy, glistening rice in this earthen pot. In addition to cooking plain rice, this pot is great for making rice with various ingredients, known in Japan as “takikomi gohan”. Recipes for takikomi gohan usually begin with a light dashi broth used as the cooking liquid in place of water and can include scant amounts of soy sauce, mirin and sake for additional flavoring. Vegetable and meat ingredients are then added. Some of the more popular takikomi dishes include matsutake gohan (matsutake mushroom rice), tai meshi (rice with sea bream fish) and gomoku gohan (rice with a combination of five ingredients). This pot has a traditional tenmoku brown glaze. It has a very heavy lid, for extra pressure during cooking. Not recommended for use in microwave.
